Dr. Ryan is a Professor of Health Services, Policy, and Practice and the founding director of the Center for Advancing Health Policy through Research (CAHPR) at Brown. Professor Ryan came to Brown in the fall of 2022 from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he served as director of the Center for Evaluating Health Reform, co-director of the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy, and associate director of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation’s Data and Methods Hub.

Dr. Meyers is an Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy, Policy and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. Professor Meyers is a health services researcher and health economist whose research broadly focuses on how payment and delivery reform affect the outcomes of historically marginalized patient populations. His current research interests include trying to understand the drivers of inequities in the Medicare Advantage program, the evaluation of care management programs for high-risk patient populations, and Medicaid policy for patients with chronic illness.

Peter Hull is an Associate Professor of Economics at Brown University, having joined the faculty in 2021 after appointments at the University of Chicago, the Becker Friedman Institute, and Microsoft Research New England. A labor economist, his research focuses on applied econometrics, education, health care, and discrimination, with an emphasis on measuring institutional quality and inequality in high-stakes decision-making.

Salpy Kanimian, Ph.D., is an applied microeconomist and Faculty Fellow in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. Her research uses quasi-experimental and structural methods to study health insurance markets and related public-private systems like workers' compensation, examining how market structure and policy shape health care access, affordability, and spending. Her work has appeared in Health Affairs, JAMA, and INQUIRY, and has been featured in Forbes, TIME, and The Hill. 

Jeff Marr is an Assistant Professor of Health Services, Policy, and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. He is a health economist who studies health care markets using quasi-experimental methods and administrative data. His research focuses on private health insurance and the Medicare program. He received his PhD in health economics and policy from Johns Hopkins University.
 

Xiaoxi Zhao is a Lead Research Scientist at the Brown University School of Public Health. Her research focuses on vertical integration and ownership structure in health care markets, and how markets respond to major policy changes including Medicare payment reforms. Her work has been published in journals including the American Economic Review, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, the Journal of Public Economics, and Health Affairs. She received her PhD in economics from Boston University.
