Traditional Medicare is public health insurance that provides coverage to about half of the 62 million adults aged 65 and older who are covered by the federally-funded Medicare insurance program.
The other half of the 62 million Medicare beneficiaries receive coverage through private plans for Medicare enrollees, known as Medicare Advantage.
